  • CTM are running a New and Renewing Gathering on Saturday March 24th.

  • Chinese Dad's Playgroup has been cancelled for this Saturday Feb 1 because of the novel corona virus 2019-nCoV.

  • To help meet gaps already identified and to enable longer term relief and recovery Synod have launched a Uniting Bushfire Appeal. You can find the appeal at https://www.vt.uniting.org/uniting-vic-tas-2020-bushfire-appeal/

  • Target Australia will match dollar for dollar all cash contributions made to the Appeal via coin boxes and registers in stores. (But it appears that you forego your tax deduction.)

  • Gippsland Emergency Relief Fund has also been recommended.

  • A reminder that the church office will be closed until Tuesday 28 January – emails and phone messages will be monitored daily.
  • Don’t forget the Back to School and Backpack Blessing on Sunday 26 January at 10am.
  • Sunday morning worship will be a single service at 10:00am each week until the end of January 2020.

  • The Seniors' Praise Service is on THIS SUNDAY 21 July at 2.30pm. Afternoon tea provided. All are welcome.

  • Michael Forrest was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis during his time at GWUC, almost 20 years ago. He is now in need of a car to carry his electric wheelchair. A GoFundMe campaign for him offers the chance for us to contribute. Click on "+ read more" for Michael's story. If that is too intimidating, contibutions can be made to the church office.

  • The moderator has issued a pastoral letter about the Synod decisions on assisted dying legislation.

  • We have recently received a report from one of the beneficiaries of last year's fete.

  • The young people had a wonderful time at the State Youth Games (SYG) in Warragul over the long weekend just gone. They competed in Basketball, Indoor Soccer, Netball, Thunder Hockey, Ultimate Frisbee, Volleyball and e-Sports - receiving a First place in Indoor Soccer and e-Sports, and Runners-Up in Thunder Hockey and Ultimate Frisbee. It was a fantastic weekend and was a lot of fun! (I hear the food was especially delicious...) Thank you for all your prayers - the weather was Pretty Good!
  • This Sunday 16 June at 1pm there will be an open meeting to consider how we as a congregation might acknowledge Australia’s first peoples. Those attending the 11am service might like to bring something to have for lunch in the fellowship area before the meeting. All are welcome.

  • The VicTas Synod meeting is to be held at Box Hill Town Hall from 5-9 July. People wishing to attend are asked to complete the nomination form (obtainable from DavidMorgan or ChurchOffice) and return it to Ian Firth at Presbytery by 1 April. Please note that due to the balance of delegates required between lay and ordained, your nomination may not be accepted. Please also note that no hard copies of the Synod papers will be produced.

  • Advance Notice – 2019 Book Sale - Once again we will be holding a Used Book Sale at the Church on Saturday 2 March. Please start collecting books you have read or no longer need. We will also need volunteers to help on the day and with setting up and packing up.

Members of the congregation will have an opportunity to vote following each worship activity on that day. Four Church Councillors have completed their term although some may be willing to renominate.   • Tim Costello, CEO of WorldVision, will be joined by Claire O’Neil, Labor Member for Hotham and others, to discuss refugee policy and the future of compassion and generosity in Australian politics on Thursday 30 Aug 2018 from 5pm, in lecture theatre H2 in the Menzies Building, Monash University, Clayton.

  • Bush Dance - A final reminder about the Bush Dance on this Saturday from 2pm. All are welcome to come and join in the fun at this fundraising activity for our church.

  • Monthly Material Aid: Uplift Socks Oddsox – Sunday 12 Aug 2018 - We are collecting new and odd socks. These are used by amputees to keep wound dressings in place and clean. Please bring along some new or odd socks.

  • Muffin Morning Tea – Wednesday 15 Aug 2018 – 10am to 12noon - Come and enjoy some delicious home-made muffins with a cuppa for morning tea and take home some recipes. Bring your family and friends. All ages welcome. All donations to research into Parkinsons’s Disease.

  • Fundraising Bush Dance – Saturday 18 Aug 2018 – from 2pm - All are welcome to join in the bush dance which is also a fund raising event for our congregation. $8 per adult or $25 per family. Come along for a fun afternoon and night. To give an idea of numbers, please add your name to the list on the office counter. More details available in the August Monthly bulletin.

  • Free Spirit Concert – Sunday 5 Aug 2018 at 2.30pm - At 2.30pm Free Spirit will present their concert at Croydon Uniting Church, 6 Tallent Street, Croydon, in support of the Asylum Seeker Welcome Centre I Brunswick. If you are unable to attend their concert here at Glen Waverley on September 9, then consider attending this afternoon to support asylum seekers.
