Has it fallen through the cracks or is there some action that our committee needs to take to ensure that we are linked to a missional "home" at GWUC? I think that Leisure Time is primarily a Community Outreach group, even though we physically meet at the church. Only one of our guests (Wendy Pratt) is a GWUC member. We have put a lot of time and effort into linking with wider community organisations and networks this year. On the budget document sent to Church Council this week, I have indicated that we contribute to 3 areas: Outreach, Community Hub and Inclusive Community. Other than photocopying, we are self-funded however, so will not be drawing on the Church Budget. What should I do on behalf of Leisure Time? What is it?
Leisure Time is a friendly high afternoon tea for isolated seniors from within our congregation or from the wider community. Guests who no longer are able to drive, and live within the Glen Waverley area, can be picked up and returned home by our volunteer drivers. All volunteers have police checks, organised by Leisure Time, at no cost.
When does it meet?
First Monday of the month, except public holidays. Hours are 2pm-3.30pm
Who meets?
Our guests are seniors, usually over 60 yrs, who are keen to mix with others.
How is it paid for?
Guests make a gold coin contribution
How does the church contribute?
