We are looking for people who enjoy making crafts with kids, serving tea and coffee, chatting and of course setting up and packing up.   • Annual Fete - Saturday 15 October from 8.30am to 2pm - The fete is a highlight of our church year, with a role for everyone. Please reserve the date and start putting aside items to donate (silent auction, craft, plants, bric-a-brac, preloved clothes and books). Your help in setting up on the Thursday and Friday, and in the cleanup on Saturday afternoon and Monday is badly needed and would be very much appreciated.   • Rev Julian Hamilton – Space to Breathe Project - Last month Julian Hamilton make mention of the project he is working on called Space to Breathe. This involves bringing Irish, Israeli and Palestinian young people together for engagement and peace building. He has a funding shortfall and invited individuals to contribute if they would like to support this initiative. You are able to donate via the attached website, or via cash left at the office.   • Tennis Club AGM - Saturday 30 July at 5pm - The Annual General Meeting of the Uniting Church Glen Waverley Tennis Club will be held in the clubhouse on Saturday 30 July 2016 at 5pm. Entry to the clubhouse is from Highvale Primary School car park at the end of Ashton and Plymouth Streets, Glen Waverley.

  • Special Congregational Meeting - Sunday 31 July at 10.30am - Presbytery have requested an opportunity to talk with the congregation in regards to Uniting Church process when a complaint is made, in light of a current issue. A special meeting of the congregation for this purpose will be held at 10.30am on Sunday 31 July.

Following the meeting there will be a sausage and salad lunch (cost $5).   • Material Aid Offering – Toys for Timor – 10 July: Your donations of small second hand (or new!) toys for very poorly resourced kindergartens in Baguia, Timor-Leste will be gratefully received. Donations can be left in the basket near the church library or brought along to any services on July 10. They will be delivered in person with Judy and Murray visit in August.

  • Office Hours - Trial Review and Comments - The revised Glen Waverley Uniting Church Office hours and staffing arrangements have operated for almost three months and we are keen to receive and listen to your feedback.   • Office Hours - Trial Review and Comments - Wednesday 18 May at 2pm - Two meetings have been arranged to allow people to discuss and comment upon the most recent office changes and impact, and offer suggestions.   • Outreach Lunch Forum – Sunday 22 May - At the next Outreach Lunch Forum Chris Douglas, Chaplain at Glen Waverley Secondary College, will be coming to share with us about his significant work in the school community.   • Alzheimer’s and Spirituality – Monday 9 May (10am) and Tuesday 10 May (7.30pm) -Alzheimer’s and Spirituality is the topic for this conversation which will be led by Rev Brace Bateman. It will consider what resources the Christian faith has to help with Alzheimer’s. There will be four sessions, on four Monday mornings in the Church at 10am, repeated on four Tuesday evenings at 7.30pm in Room 1. All are welcome.

  • Interruption to Electricity Supply – Sunday 1 May - We have received communication from United Energy advising us that there will be an interruption to our electricity supply on Sunday 1 May from 8am until 4pm. Please see the notice in the bulletin for more details. There will be no Club 2016 lunch on Sunday.

  • UCAF Annual Luncheon – Tuesday 3 May - Mrs Patricial Begg OAM will speak at this luncheon about the History of High Tea. If you have not already bought a ticket, and only wish to come and hear Patricia speak, you will be able to purchase a $10 ticket for this up until 3 May. Tickets are available from Barbara Thompson, Margaret Duncan, Norma Saxton and Diana Coles.

  • Let’s Go Walking with Neil Peters – Saturday 30 April - Neil Peters is doing a walk-a-thon to raise money for the Chaplaincy Program in schools. Our church has commited to support this program. Please read the notice in the bulletin so see how you could support Neil.

  • Material Aid Offering – This Week – Sunday 10 April You are invited to contribute non-perishable food and toiletries, to be stored by the Welfare Committee, to assist those in our community who are in need. Items such as canned soups, meals, baked beans, breakfast cereals (especially Weet-Bix), tea, coffee, Milo and biscuits all go down well. Soap, toothpaste and brushes, toilet paper and washing powders are also appreciated.

  • Seniors’ Service – This Week – Sunday 10 Apr 2016 at 2.30pm You are invited to share in Worship and Communion at this service which is themed “The Pilgrimage of Life”. The service will be followed by afternoon tea.

In addition we have 3 iPads available from the church office that have the services loaded on them each Monday. So if you are unable to get to worship at any time and you would like to watch any of these services, please contact the church office or Warren Greenwood and we can arrange for a DVD or iPad to be shared with you.
