Devotion
led by Jit: 2 Timothy 4:6 'Preaching the Word': The passage speaks of 'keeping to the point, 'being of sober mind'. Son of God's message – Our lives must be an example of the Christian way, an example of God's message, proclaim God's truth, responsibility to preach the word, the process of growth towards becoming the incaration of God's disciples.
Sharmini prayed for insight and leadership.
Group Studies: 'Living the Christian Life'
Jit reported that there were 7 groups: Sunday: BelindaClear, Monday: ColinKing, Thursday: RossMackinnon, Thursday: NeilPeters, Friday:JohnHurst, and Lowes and AlaneeHearnshaw. Reading material available from the web. Link is provided in the study booklet.
RossMackinnon will lead an in depth bible study in September.
SharminiWickramaratne has added three Bible Study groups to the list on the Wiki.
Fellowship Discussion Subject: Favourite Bible Character: NeilPeters will organise for Sunday week.
JitTan will continue to monitor WOMP board for possible subjects to pursue at the Fath meeting.
NeilPeters to follow up on looking for gospels in other languages. A new product may be available soon with a cost of between $2:00 and $2:50.
HelenStewart reported that the Focus forums have been beneficial.
Recruiting more people to join mission groups and encouraging people to share their spiritual gifts was discussed.
NeilPeters reported that five people have offered to assist with planning two of the 9:15 services each month.
JohnHurst suggested that celebrations should be expressed in 'Prayers of the People' along with concerns. Need to highlight the 'joys' page in the prayer book.
Discussion re seminar and Christmas program at August meeting. BelindaClear has met with Graeme Bartley, Wesley College Chaplain, re possible Christmas program.
HelenStewart spoke about 'Uniting Church Prayers' on the internet and JohnHurst will look into the possibilities.
