5. Congregational Outreach Projects

Discussion of how we want to proceed with congregational outreach projects this year.

While selection of outreach projects is a matter for the congregation, in the recent past the Community Outreach Mission Group has led us. FairlieMackinnon has advised that the Outreach Mission Group no longer operates and the she is no longer able to lead it. While it is possible that a new Outreach group may be formed, this meeting needs to decide how to proceed with planning to allocate the proceeds of this year's fete.

One option is to allocate funds according to the 2021 COP Panel's recommendations because, due to Covid-19 these projects received no funding. The 2021 proposal was that funds should be distributed to the following groups: The GWUC Welfare Committee, Friends of Baguia (Timor Leste), Friends of Ermera (Timor Leste), Diocesan Project Jagriti Bhalai Kendra (Northern Eastern India). The 2021 proposal, also proposed but not funded in 2022, are attached here. If we adopt this approach, the proposers of these projects could be asked to check that the projects are still needed and report back to the July meeting of the congregation.

Alternatively, we could appoint a 2023 Congregation Outreach Project selection committee at this meeting and ask them to seek submissions and recommend projects to the July meeting of the Congregation.

Proposed Resolution: This meeting of the Congregation of the Glen Waverley Uniting Church accepts the 2021 proposed Congregational Outreach Projects for distributing the proceeds of this year's fete.

or

This meeting of the Congregation of the Glen Waverley Uniting Church appoints (names to be added) as the 2023 Congregational Outreach Project selection committee and asks them to follow the usual process to produce recommendations for the July meeting of the congregation.

6. Other Business

6.1. Sunday Morning Worship Times

What does the congregation think about the suggestion that the 9:15 and 11:00am services be combined each week and worship held at 10:00am? (The 8:00am and other worship activities would continue with their current arrangements.)

While this is is the responsibility of Church Council, this discussion may help them.

6.2. Facebook

Sachin Remson to say a few words about our Facebook presence.

7. Benediction

After the close of the meeting, please stay for a light lunch and a chat.
