NOTES FROM INCLUSIVE COMMUNITY MEETING ON 6 OCTOBER, 2014.

1. Present:

Faye, Barb., Neil, Laurel, Alison, Jan

2. Apologies:

3. Sharing Time:

Jan read a small devotional piece entitled “Being instead of Doing” (page for October 7 from “Love is a verb” by Gary Chapman.) We discussed the piece.

4. Pastoral Concerns and Prayer:

We discussed pastoral needs at present and Neil prayed for these people.

5. Matters arising from minutes:

Jan has emailed Sue M. about getting new cards to send to children on the 1st, 2nd and 3rd Anniversaries of Baptisms. Jan will follow this up.

6. Church Council President:

Jan welcomed Helen and she spoke to us about the Biblical perspective for the Organic Vision Document and talked about the sections on continuing to build connectedness and genuine community and nurturing faith development, sharing, questioning and exploration. Committee members were invited to make comments. Unfortunately we could not complete all points because of time constraints.

7. REPORTS.

7.1. Prayer chain:

Jan has spoken to Beverly McGlead. We will continue to advertise the prayer chain in the monthly bulletin.

7.2. Supportive Care Link:

Laurel had met Neil M. It was suggested that we have a roster of visitors to go and see Judith-maybe once a week. Someone could take some flowers, once a month. (Laurel took note of these suggestions.) Laurel will get some gluten free meals for Mary W. when she and Kerryn go to the shop. We need to keep an eye on Murray and Norma All. .

7.3. Newcomers:

Jan has phoned May and Greg and will visit them now she is back from holidays. She still need to catch up with Cottrells. Jan will ask Heather about the pew cards for newcomers and will have a look in the visitors book for someone called Nick.

7.4. Seniors:

Alison: Twenty-one attended the Seniors’ Seminar. The Seniors’ service on 26 October will be readings, songs and poems celebrating Spring. Christmas Seniors’ Service will be on Sunday 14 December. Barbara and Jan will set up seniors’ display on Monday 20 October.

7.5. Bereavement Support:

Bobbie is about to follow up Judith Boucher and Diana Thorpe.

7.6. Pastoral Partners:

Jan hopes to organise a get together for Pastoral Partners before Christmas.

7.7. Roll Maintenance:

Jan will contact Fry’s and Carter’s re transfers of membership. Stan Ford requested a transfer and this has been sent. Need to keep an eye on Fien E. at Monash Gardens.

7.8. Card and Correspondence Ministry:

Faye has sent 70 cards this year. We have received a letter from Hazel D’s family thanking us for the card.

8. GENERAL BUSINESS.

1) High tea on 12 October. Devonshire tea-speakers.-10.30am. Faye and Ray will set up on Saturday night, ask Andrew to help.

2) MWAB in October and December. booked RSL for October and December. Faye will follow up those who haven’t replied.

3) We will have a light lunch on 9 November and forget the December one.

4) Farewell for Sharmini and Rohan. They don’t want anything. Neil will speak to them.

Any other items: Belinda possible date for farewell 7 December just before 4.30. Release service may be in January. Faye will talk to the members of the support committee.

NEXT MEETING: Monday 10 November at 3pm in the outer vestry.
