Letter from Presbytery

The Ministry Team
Port Phillip East Presbytery
Uniting Church in Australia
Synod of Victoria and Tasmania

Dear Friends,

Greetings!

This month is termed Solidarity Month for the Defence of Human Rights in the Philippines.

The Promotion for Church People's Response (PCPC) Australia Chapter and the Filipino Conference (FNC) in the Uniting Church in Australia has organised an Online Forum on the 16th of September 2020, Wednesday, 7:00PM AEST entitled: Church People's Prophetic Voices against State Terrorism in the Philippines. This aims to highlight the response of our Christian sisters and brothers in the Philippines to the escalating attacks on human rights defenders and activists. The details of the Forum are in the attached concept paper.

There will be Speakers from the Philippines and a panel of Church leaders in Australia to give their Responses. There will also be very short (two minutes) expressions of solidarity from other church leaders and chuch-based organizations in Australia.

Through these efforts, we wish to set up an ecumenical network for human rights/justice and peace advocacy for the Philippines which we hope you can be part of.

May we invite you to join this Forum and request from you a brief solidarity message. The Flyer and Zoom Link are included in this email.

PCPR Australia and FNC are inviting you to a scheduled Zoom meeting.
