THE HUB
The Hub, a welcoming and friendly place for people of all ages, is underway for 2014. The Hub operates in the church foyer on Tuesdays and Thursdays, 10am – 2pm, and Wednesdays 10am – 12noon, during school terms.
On Thursday 6thMarch, 10am – 12noon, we will be having a special morning tea at The Hub, which will include conversations led by Monash Council Positive Ageing Lifestyles’ staff around various issues concerning the needs of our senior residents.
Monash Council is working towards becoming an “Age Friendly City”, seeking to improve the living experience of senior residents, and making Monash a place where older people are supported, connected and valued for their contribution to community and family life.
Following our CHMG meeting on 12 February, attention is drawn to the following special dates for The Hub:

COOEE
Cooee has already resumed for 2014. If you would like some company on Friday lunchtime, come along to Cooee. Bring your own lunch - a cuppa and biscuits will be provided. After lunch enjoy a few games together. Cooee members have recently enjoyed playing UNO and Scrabble.
PLAYGROUP
2013 ended on a high note with crowds of children, parents and grandparents enjoying party food and welcoming Santa. Children moving on to Kinder and school were farewelled with our best wishes. Our three established groups will recommence in the first week of February. Plans are underway to start a new fourth group, which will meet on Thursday mornings. This should reduce numbers to a more manageable level without turning families away. Cupboards and equipment have been tidied in readiness for welcoming both old and new friends to our playgroup family. We are very grateful to the Property Group who have added sand and tanbark to the outdoor play area.
A new Playgroup began Thursday 13 February. Fifteen children attended. Clearly there is a need for this service in this community. ‘Word of mouth’ has proved very effective in spreading information about this excellent outreach service. Congratulations to Kaye and her merry band of workers, who have enabled this growth.
Leisure Time
Leisure Time commenced for the year on 3rd February. We know that our guests are very keen to meet again, with each other and with our GWUC volunteers.
The Leisure Time committee is very grateful to all our regular helpers, and a few new ones, for their monthly assistance, making possible continuation of this outreach of friendship and hospitality to local isolated seniors.
Please pray for a happy and safe year at Leisure Time for our guests and our helpers.
