Discussion

  1. Services

    • 9.30am – Keeping to time is difficult, therefore need time checks in service for each major section. Jit has done a series of pictures on the service. Rosemary commented on it being flexible enough to be able to incorporate special prayers for NZ and Brian Clarkson’s family right at the start. Currently no notice/sharing time. Need to find an efficient way to do this at each service. Communication Committee to give some thought to this. Difficulty moving people into hall for morning tea, just want to stay in foyer. More families coming to the service.
    • 8.00am - Lots of visitors.
    • 11am - About the same. Going well.
    • 4.30pm - Lots of enthusiasm. Tried all kids groups in hall together. Worked OK.
    • 7.00pm - Good start with good speaker. Very powerful and lots of informal talking afterwards.
  2. 29 May 5th Sunday combined service

    • “Vocational” Workshop (i.e., how to relate faith to our daily lives) – Outline of the day: Breakfast together with table discussions, Church Service at 10.00am with Gill Cann preaching followed by workshop in groups run by Philip Hughes. Feedback from groups. BYO lunch.
  3. Leadership training

    • For elders and church councillors – either at end of 2nd term or beginning of 3rd term.
  4. Music workshop

    • Sharing different types of music and have speaker as well. Greg has a book which talks about the purpose of music in worship. Dean and Colin will look at book and discuss planning the workshop. Possible people to be involved in workshop for contacting later: Jeff Willis, Neil Skilton, Barbara Hurst, Elwyn Pederson, Deb Leigh.
  5. Sanctuary cross decoration

    • Rosemary explained that the cross is not an object of worship. It is supposed to enhance worship and not be a point of contention. Some would like to have the cross bare at times. Need to be flexible – draped on special occasions, bare at other times. Flexibility is needed in the worship space regarding all objects up front – pulpit, flowers, cross, font - all are aids to worship.
  6. Hub and Faith Community prayer time request

    • To be incorporated in Hub activities on Thursdays - Supported by Community of Faith.
  7. Lenten study – The Divine Conspiracy (Dallas Willard)

    • 12 in Greg’s group, 11 in Rosemary’s group, various home groups also doing it including Monday night young adults, 5.00pm adults time in Sunday service. Third group cancelled as no takers.
  8. Chinese Church

    • Chinese church rents our place on Saturday night. Notice should go up to let others know that it occurs.
