Suburban Rail Loop Authority correspondence

From SRLA 11 Aug

Hi,

My name is Jason Qin from Suburban Rail Loop Authority.

I am writing to speak to representatives of Glen Waverley Uniting Church.

As you may know, Suburban Rail Loop (SRL) is Victoria’s biggest ever transport infrastructure project.

SRL will connect every major train line from the Frankston line to the Werribee line, via Melbourne Airport, improving access to housing, jobs, schools, universities, and hospitals in Melbourne’s middle suburbs.

Stage One will connect our growing health, education, retail, and employment precincts in Melbourne's south east and east between Cheltenham and Box Hill (with new underground stations at Cheltenham, Clayton, Monash, Glen Waverley, Burwood and Box Hill). You can find out more about our project via this fact sheet.

I’m reaching out today because Suburban Rail Loop Authority would like to see if Glen Waverley Uniting Church would be interested in a project briefing?

The purpose of the meeting is to make sure community stakeholders in the vicinity of our proposed stations and tunnel are appropriately updated on where the project is up to. It would consist of an online meeting with our project team and is an opportunity for us to brief Glen Waverley Uniting Church about the project in a bit more detail.

By way of next steps, I will simply need to know who from Glen Waverley Uniting Church is best to be in attendance (and their emails). To liaise with yourself or someone about finding a time in the coming weeks (1 hour would suffice). The SRLA representative for Glen Waverley Uniting Church has suggested 25th August or 1st or 8th September for the proposed meeting. Please let me know if any of these dates are suitable for your organisation. If none of those dates are suitable, please suggest a couple dates that are suitable for you. Once this has been completed, I can send through a calendar invite to a Microsoft Teams meeting which will have a link in it to join the meeting with our project team. It would consist of an online meeting with our project team, and is an opportunity for us to brief Glen Waverley Uniting Church about the project in more detail. Additionally, can you please confirm the best direct phone number and e-mail address to reach you at in case I need to confirm anything regarding logistics?

Thank you for your time

Jason Qin Engagement Adviser Suburban Rail Loop Authority

=== To SRLA 11 Aug === Hi Jason.

My name is David Morgan, and I am the secretary of the Glen Waverley Uniting Church Church Council. After a quick round of e-mails, I have been nominated to reply to you. I have personally been taking an interest in the Rail Loop, and am happy to be the GWUC contact. Other members of the Council are certainly interested in the opportunities that the loop may present for us.

I was not clear from your email on how many people you were wanting to engage. Is this a community briefing that can include our representative, or are you looking to run a dedicated meeting open to all members of the congregation? Or somewhere in between?

Any of the dates suggested would suit me. Are you looking at business hours or evening?

My email is good. Phone contact is probably best via the church office, 9560 3580 or 0434 119 335 during a COVID-19 shutdown.

Thanks,

David Morgan

Hi David

Thank you for your reply, and thank you for your interest in SRL.

I have included Melanie in our email chain. She’s the SRLA representative for GWUC, and I will be supporting her in our engagement.

We are looking for about no more than 4-5 representatives from GWUC.

In terms of date and time, how does Wednesday 1st September, 2pm – 3pm sound to you and your representatives?

Thank you.

Kind Regards,

Jason Qin Engagement Adviser Suburban Rail Loop Authority
