PROPOSED CONCERT TO BRING OUR SCATTERED COMMUNITY TOGETHER

An afternoon of music and singing to celebrate what we have, where we have come from and to reach out to the community. Given how dispersed and un-gathered we have been because of COVID I’m proposing a concert to bring the community together around music.

While we remain hopeful that the fete will be able to go ahead, this event could in some smaller way bring people together.

I have had positive responses from several the key groups and individuals involved in our church’s music.

When: early to mid- November?

Contingency: postpone if necessary.

The program –Leave this up to the organisers and the groups/ musicians who choose to take part: could be a hybrid event with songs of worship and praise AND music from other traditions to have broader appeal within the wider community?

Many instruments, many voices, multilingual, inter cultural and intergenerational.

Potentially involve children and adults as musicians, ensembles, singers, and multiple languages. Could highlight the new piano but organ, clarinet, keyboard, violin, guitar, kulintang, angklung ...all instruments and choirs, bands, ensembles welcome.

Could also invite Cantonese Christian choir (leader is a piano teacher and soloist)
