GrahamBartley (Presybtery representative on the Joint Nominating Committee) who chaired the remainder of the meeting. == Report from the Joint Nominating Committee (JNC) to select new ministers == Graham Bartley advised the meeting that the JNC was unanimous in recommending the Rev. Ian Ferguson to the congregation to serve as Minister of the Word. Graham outlined Ian's experience as a minister of the Word in Mentone then Black Rock and then Brunswick. Ian has a passion for parish ministry and is well suited to meet the needs of the Glen Waverley congregation as outlined in the congregation profile developed by the JNC. Ian is experienced in team ministry and would be able to work well with the first-third-of-life person being sought for the Glen Waverley Uniting Church ministry team. Graham explained that: * Ian will not be available until 1 January 2024 and why; * NeilPeters had agreed to remain in placement at Glen Waverley until then; * supply ministry will be suppoprted by Presbytery in the interim; and * ChurchCouncil have agreed to these arrangements. AlisonClarkson, member of the JNC made the following points supporting the recommendation to call Ian. * Ian has expressed a passion for building up an enthusiastic and integrated Community of Faith at Glen Waverley Uniting Church * Ian ticks all the boxes in our prifile and more. * Ian has shared his enthusiasm and interest in accepting a placement with us. * The JNC warmed to Ian's priorities and his manner, as well as his experience with all-age, all-cultural and all-styles of worship, melding the creative with the traditional. * Ian's experience with multiculturalism fits well with the demographic of Glen Waverley as shown in the 2021 census. * Ian has read the Glen Waverley Uniting Church re-visioning statement for 2022 and will bring his own ideas and experience to the continuing process of implementation. MatthewBoldiston, another member of the JNC, made the following points in support of a call to Ian. * Ian is experienced in using media and technology in worship and is keen to work with out tech team. * Ian is keen to explore how we can further engage in a meaningful way with those who join our worship through the live stream. * Ian feels able to contribute to discussions, especially in the CommunicationsCommittee, about better ways to use social media to connect within the congregation and with the wider community. JohnSnare thanked the members of the JNC for the work they have done. (Acclamation) The following resolution was decided by a secret ballot.
