Glen Waverley Uniting Church Mowing Guidelines
Accessing the property
A key to access the church buildings is contained in a small code operated Key Safe mounted on the brick wall to the Right-Hand side of the car park glass entry doors. To get the key follow these steps:
1. Enter the code (currently 7934) by pushing the numbered buttons until you hear each click.
2. Slide the upper large square OPEN button downwards and while holding it down remove the lid completely from the box. Leave the key attached to the lid.
3. If you enter a wrong code you may cancel it by sliding the lower CLEAR button downwards.
4. To replace the lid and key in the box, enter the code, place the bottom of the lid in the box, press the OPEN button down, push the lid into the box and release the OPEN button.

Mowing guidelines

  • Mow all lawn areas surrounding the church buildings and trim edges if required.
  • Weed garden beds as required.
  • Sweep paths as required including ramp entrance to the South Extension.
  • Remove any windblown rubbish from the carpark, lawns and church surrounds.
  • Please be prepared to mow the lawns even if there is little growth. If it is not necessary to mow please check the grounds for papers and weeds.
  • Volunteers may prefer to bring their own mower; however, the Church has a 4-stroke mower which is available for use [refer to notes attached to the mower]. Do not set mower blades too low, particularly if the lawn has been re-seeded, as this may tear the grass shoots from the ground.
  • Use only 4 Stroke fuel in the church mower. Use only 2 stroke fuel in the line-trimmer. Cans of fuel are in the garden shed, marked as 4 Stroke and 2 Stroke.
  • Place lawn clippings in the green bins, but not more than half full, as a full bin is too heavy for the garbage truck lifting gear. Lawn clippings in excess of ½ bin should be spread over garden beds. Garden waste is cleared fortnightly, so the clippings may need to be spread some weeks and not others. Alternatively, you may take the clippings home for use as mulch.
  • The mower, line-trimmer and other garden tools are stored in the shed accessible via the children’s playground – the key to access the main church build opens the shed.
