OUTREACH MISSIONAL GROUP VISION 2012 and Beyond

This page is only accessible to the Outreach Missional Group Members in order to give you "privacy" to review and discuss our Vision as at 2012 and beyond.

You are invited to add comments to this page.
If you each click on the button(??) Subscribe under Page on the brown section on RHS of the page you will be advised by email if anyone of us changes anything on this page so that you will be kept up to date with what we all think. (You can also easily Unsubscribe if you get tired of the emails.

This is a discussion page for Outreach Missional Group to:

  • review our activities against past "Vision(s)" and
  • update and provide a current Vision (for use with the GGG campaign 2012).

NOTE: We are being asked for "dot point Visions" which will be finessed by another person into the whole GGG document ie not asked to produce a wordy or "pretty" document.

We are asked to review the past Vision as to what we have achieved etc.

Items 5 and 6 on this CommunityOutreach page are relevant. I assume they were compiled as a result of the original OTWT process although item 6 appears to have been updated (by others) more recently.

So looking at the items under 5. Key Propositions for Growth, how do we 'fit'?
(Add your comments in the table below after clicking on "Edit (text)" (RHS) and "Save Changes" (above) when you have finished OR email or phone me your comments; I think and hope the table will expand as required.)

Item

Achieved Vision; YES or NO

Comment/Future

Review fundraising and distribution practices

Item 6 suggests YES but have we deliberately ?

Needed??

Establish an Outreach Ministry Group

Yes (us)

Need to review and strengthen our role??

Develop relationship with Beeac UC

Yes, by Broadcast Group

Ongoing (eg recent visits) and needs supporting

Develop overseas student support program

Yes

Overseas student support ceased when the o/s students left and there were none at our church. We provided them;
* a home away from home - we open our home for them to come & stay for as long as they need to,
* support physically, emotionally and at times financially,
* spiritual support – organise small groups to discuss their “journey”,
* safe place to discuss & share their problems and the obstacles they face,
* organise meals to share birthdays, etc

Foster relationships with our Asian neighbours

Yes

Now being achieved by The Hub

Develop & support Kombi Krew ministry

Alanee, your comments please

Participate in wider neighbourhood events

Yes, a few events supported eg Cheese & wine festival in Kingsway; Clean up Australia Day support

Continue to support community events as they arise

What do you make of the "nice" sentences in 6. What might GWUC look like in 2013 if we were faithful to these propositions?

What should we include as current Vision(s)?

The following attachment is a list of comments given on 'Post-It Notes' by attendees to The Day event on Saturday 30 June when the four Missional Groups presented their Visions to the attendees (Elders, Church Council Member and other interested persons). I guess the comment Lyn McDonald’s ideas on advertising, outreach. (shouldn't the comma be removed?) refers to our Group's recommendation, and presented on the day (and at the February Missional Ministerial meeting), of including one project/event per month during our Church services and an appropriate monthly offering being made to this project/event (generally not monetary).

Does this document add (or modify) Our Vision?

We need your comments etc by Monday 20 August please.
It would be really great if, in our busy lives, each of us could at least quickly review and comment on this request.
(I understand. It's taken me some time to get a "grip" of this VISION request).

Outreach Vision for GWUC, 2012 & Beyond

  • Managing the COP Process.
  • Supporting international projects to which GWUC people are connected ............. eg
    • Baguia & Ermera, East Timor,

    • MIA and local community Nakuru, Kenya
  • Supporting Local & National Projects .... eg

    • Habitat, Brushed with Kindness (BWK) program and general fundraising;
    • Asylum Seekers,
    • Aboriginals NT, as well as through personal commitments at Maningrida & the Kimberley; Frontier Services (Centenary).

  • To see the preaching plan include speakers related to “our loving one another” outreach programs during our worship services. We COULD have a regular week per month when we would share these activities with the congregation. As well as our normal offering, we could also bring material gifts and our time as part of the offering for that day in support of that month’s focus Project.
