 * Sharing with you a simple Christmas Lunch where 14 of us enjoyed Christmas lunch together followed by carol singing. We had Marjorie & a family of 4 joined us at the last minute. Thank you Ian for making the announcement.
 * We were fortunate to have 3 helpers (ChrisDrummond, Steve & YanEmms) helped us set-up. They can't join us as they had family celebrations to go to.
 * I am wondering if there is a wider need in our community.

Intercultural Task Group report Feb 2025

1. Intercultural Task Group multicultural Christmas event.

  • There were about 200 people at the performances with the mayor in attendance and a few representing the different intercultural groups within Monash.
  • The bulk of the $5,000 grant from Monash went towards the performance fee of the 4 groups with the First Peoples Didgeridoo costing $1,900.
  • The lunch was well attended with over 120 people. The Indonesian cuisine was well received. There was more than enough to go round.
  • The display in Room 1 was there from 7th to 25th December. We were privileged to have Aunty Norma from the First Peoples lending us her display of possum coat and the history of weaving.
  • Overall it was a well received event.

3. Lunar new year lunch.

  • Vida reports: We had a good time of fellowship and learning from each other about our traditional food and routines.

I believe the highlight was the loh hei (see picture).
