Link to >> PastoralPartners == Report on the Pastoral Partners Workshop with Sharonne Price-2,3and 4 August. == * Sharonne works in the South Australian Synod. She wrote the Pastoral Partners program. * Sharonne met with a small group of representatives of Pastoral team, Ministry team and Church council on Friday evening. This was a getting- to- know session and Sharonne began outlining the program and answering our questions. * Thirty people met together at 10am on Saturday morning. They enjoyed morning tea together and then I opened the morning session with devotions. Sharonne then led us in a session covering topics including pastoral care as part of the church’s calling, images of pastoral care, our aims as a pastoral care team, the characteristics of the Pastoral Partners program including training for pastoral carers, how pastoral partners care for small clusters, the ongoing nurture and education for pastoral partners and the elements and core content of training programs. * Sharonne then led us in a session on the art of listening. * Sharonne finished the session by showing us the materials available to assist in implementing the program. * We shared lunch together and people discussed the program enthusiastically. * After lunch we began the second session. Sharonne talked about how we could begin introducing the program and then led us through training sessions on grief and spirituality and depression. The program concluded at 3pm . * Alison and I had the opportunity to talk about the implementation of the program with Sharonne on Saturday evening and this was very helpful. * Sharonne preached at the 8am, 9.15 and 11am services on Sunday morning. Then we had lunch with the members of Club 2013 so that was another good opportunity for Sharonne to meet members of the congregation. * Alison and I met last week and decided that we wanted to have a follow- up session sooner rather than later. We decided to have this session on Sunday 18 August at 2pm. We have distributed flyers and David emailed elders and visitors. This will be the first pastoral partners training session and we will talk about where we are going from here. * We were very grateful to Sharonne for giving her precious free time to visit us. Bill Norquay engraved her name on a wooden candle holder and we presented this to her at the end of the session on Saturday.
