We use these grants to subsidise our outings program. * Looking forward to our Christmas party and end-of-year reflection time on 9th December * Please pray for our guests over the Christmas break when they miss their weekly friendship time at Leisure Time. Margaret Fraser (Co-ordinator) === PLAYGROUP === * Our three playgroups continue smoothly and happily. Our only pressing problem is overcrowding in each group on some mornings, and the growing waiting list. * We have agreed in principle that we should start a fourth group next year so that manageable numbers can be maintained without us becoming exclusive. At present we are exploring possible spaces within the GWUC complex which we could use on either Thursday or Friday mornings. * Arrangements are underway for a telling of the Christmas Story in the Church for parents/carers who wish their children to attend. We are looking forward to the Christmas dress ups and photos arranged by The Hub and our party and visit from Santa. * Special thanks once again to our wonderful team of leaders and helpers. Kaye Mackinnon (Co-ordinator) === STORY HUB === * Story Hub has had a pretty good term. * We have been averaging about 3-4 families each week and these families have been staying after the story time to have a play in the hall which is fantastic. * Most of the children who come are under 3 years old, so often we just sing songs and have a short story. * It is providing a great opportunity for the parents to socialise as well. * Our aim for 2014 is to have a roster of people to do Story Hub each week. I will be putting a list on the office counter late in November to ask for volunteers. Belinda Clear ( Co-ordinator) === THE HUB === * Grant money of $3000 from the Australian Government Department of Families, Housing, Community Services and Indigenous Affairs has been spent on training for Hub volunteers, a trolley with storage containers for all The Hub information for visitors and 2 iPads with cases. * Our Seniors’ Morning Tea at The Hub was very well attended with over 100 people. A large group of about 20 people came from the City of Whitehorse. * Many people coming to The Hub to practise their English through conversation continues. * We will be taking photos of children in nativity dress ups at The Hub on Dec. 2nd, 3rd and 4th, 10am – 12noon. * Christmas Morning Tea at The Hub will be on Tuesday 10th Dec. 10am – 12noon. This will include a story time for children at 11am. This will also be the last day of The Hub for 2013. The Hub will resume in 2014 on Tuesday 4th Feb. * Do we need permission to support * The Royal Childrens’ Hospital Good Friday appeal at GWUC on 3rd April 1014? * The Cancer Councils’ Australia’s Biggest morning teat GWUC on 23 May 2014? If so, we hereby request your approval. Judith Greenwood (Co-ordinator)
